BMW X5

It has a choice of two petrol and two diesel engines.

The BMW X5 defines an expanding group of big, powerful SUVs that shine for their on-pavement agility and responsive acceleration, with an emphasis on safety, comfort and luxury appointments.

All trims share the same standard six-speed automatic transmission with Steptronic shifting, as well as BMW’s xDrive intelligent all-wheel drive system. Standard equipment includes 18-inch alloy wheels, automatic climate control and leather upholstery (leatherette on the 3.0si trim); an optional third-row seat adds versatility. Safety features for the X5 include first and second row side curtain airbags, Dynamic Stability Control with rollover sensor, run-flat tires and adaptive brake lights.

BMW X5   3.0sd

The X5 3.0sd  is equiped with the world’s most powerful production six-cylinder diesel powerplant. The award-winning twin-turbocharged 3.0-litre diesel engine has been brought to the BMW X5 range to cater for a growing demand for performance SAVs.

The BMW X5 3.0sd provides the driver with 286hp and a flat torque curve with a peak of 580Nm from a lowly 1,750rpm to ensure rapid performance. The X5 3.0sd is capable of accelerating from zero to 62mph in 7.0 seconds before going on to a top speed of 146mph.

The 3.0si has a 260 hp 3.0-liter inline six-cylinder petrol engine,

BMW X5   4.8i

The 4.8i boasts a 350 hp 4.8-liter V8.

BMW X5   4.4M ??

It is speculated that another future “M-Sport” Model, due in 2009, will have a 4.4L Twin Turbo V8 that will produce about 430hp (320 kW). Transmission choices differ from that offered today – 6-speed Steptronic will be offered as a standard option.
